サパー町への旅 The journey to Sapa

Today, we spent most of the day in the car, traveling from Hanoi to Sapa. We stopped briefly in the town of Lao Cai, known chiefly as the "Gateway to Sapa". There was torrential rainfall so we didn't walk around Sapa until the evening--instead we just relaxed and dried off at the Sapa Elegance Hotel. 今日はほとんど車の中だった。ハノイからサパー町の移動で5時間以上かかってしまた。とちゅうでラオ・カイという町で美味しくないお昼をしてからサパー町にやっと着きました。雨だったのでホテルの中でリラックスしてからちょっとだけのお散歩をした。夕飯は美味しいお豆腐がやっと見つけました。大喜び！

Some interesting architecture driving out of Hanoi...面白いビルが結構あった

An interesting mix of Chinese and Western...ビルのスタイルも様々

And as we got out of the city, there is a lot of construction of new homes...新しいお家を構築しているところも多かった

Eventually we start seeing more rivers and open spaces...緑が少しづつ出てきた

And even crossed a few rivers...川の幾つも渡った

Farmland starts to appear...田舎の方や農家。。。

And even some burial sites...お墓が見えた。。。

Eventually we make it into the mountainous regions...山の方にきている。。。

And start to see terraced farming and rice fields...お米の作っているところがやっと見えてきた。。。

And rivers...and hills...川も、小さな山も。。。

And the mists set in...霧が近くになってきている

It sure was beautiful before the rains started...雨のないときはとても綺麗だった

This is us coming into Lao Cai...ラオ・カイまちがみえてきた。。。

More interesting city architecture...ビルも面白い。

And more urban Lao Cai...ラオ・カイ待ち、あまり綺麗じゃないけど。。。

Finally we made it to the hotel, which was quite elegant...ホテルに4時ぐらい着きました。タオル、可愛くない？

And the balcony is lovely...ベランダーがいい。。。

...with a great view...景色も良かった

And when the clouds rolled away, the hills appeared...山がやっと見えてきた。。。
